International Workshop on Prefabricated Housing
From Bamboo Based Panels
24-25 November 2005 , Beijing
The Workshop has held in cooperation
with Fustar Company and Chengdong Company in Nov. 24-25 in Beijing,
China. The major objective is to promote the use of Bamboo Based
Panel as an engineered building material. Over 40 workshop invitees,
including architects from Europe and US, international NGOs, governmental
officials, manufacturers, developers, entrepreneurs, investors,
forest researchers, academia and other interested organizations
and individuals, participated in the workshop. Two kinds of bamboo
module houses were addressed during the workshop: (1) pack-flat
bamboo buildings for the emergency relief and temporary use targeting
mostly disastrous areas and developing markets and (2) advanced
high-end residential housing with bamboo panels components targeting
mostly the developed markets. Besides the discussion, the participants
visited the Chengdong Prefabricated Housing Corp. Ltd., located
in Tongzhou District of Beijing.
