International Design Workshop on Pre-fabricated Module Housing

INBAR successfully conducted an international design workshop on modular bamboo housing in close collaboration with ICBR China. 35 participants from 15 countries (from Asia, Africa, Europe, LA and NA) attended the workshop. The workshop had mainly three themes: 1) to share existing knowledge and information regarding bamboo housing development worldwide; 2) to discuss and share design requirements for modular bamboo housing and 3) to initiate global partnership for bamboo housing.

The workshop was highly successful. The workshop has recommended the general design considerations for the bamboo modular housing, has developed terms of reference for the designer and has passed a resolution to develop global partnership programme for bamboo housing. Some designers also presented their concept design of the modular bamboo houses to be built as a part of our project.
