Bamboo Market Potential in Northeast India and Entry Points for Development in Mizoram

This project was initiated to address India’s challenge to fully develop the potential of the bamboo sector for economic empowerment, land and forestry rehabilitation and the utilization of bamboo to mitigate the effects of climate change. The main focus of the project is to update information on the bamboo market and inventory in the North Eastern Region of India and map sustainable development perspectives in Mizoram State through a study.
The direct beneficiaries of this project are staff of public agencies, non-profit organizations and private actors in the bamboos sector of the north eastern Region and particularly Mizoram. People and communities depending upon bamboo for their livelihoods, particularly women and indigenous tribes, will benefit from the study’s outcome through the utilization of the findings for sector development.
