INBAR, Africa and the Millennium Development Goal

The bamboo sector in Africa has a large potential to reduce poverty and contribute to environmental sustainability. As this sector is currently underdeveloped the project focused on South-South technology and information transfer, as well as the implementation and dissemination of information. Capacity building has resulted in the opening of local markets and provided an insentive to explore international markets, while already providing an important livelihood opportunity. Action research sites and information centers were also established.
