For millions of disadvantaged in Eastern and Southern Africa, bamboo has great potential for contribute to poverty reduction, environmental protection. Though, bamboo has a huge potential as renewable resource in Eastern and Southern Africa, these countries lack the technologies and knowledge to implement green growth strategies. To diminish this issue, this project promoted bamboo through the establishment of plantations of both existing valuable species and exotic species, the use of bamboo to address household energy and for product production. The project further encouraged South-South knowledge transfer and network building opportunities.
