Programme for Enhanced Bamboo and Rattan based Smallholder Livelihood Opportunities

While there is a growing demand for bamboo and rattan opportunities such as furniture and artisans, remote communities face challenges to compete with this demand. The programme generated small models for community-based, sustainable institutions for rural development project activities concerning bamboo and rattan that are adaptable and usable in different locations. Appropriate public-private partnerships, which connect rural community producers with local and external markets, including those in Europe were established. The partnership served in the promotion of innovative marketing linkages and institutional systems.
