Rattan – an economically and socially important plant to the rural population in many tropical developing countries and is in need of sustainable management initiatives. As inventories provide data crucial to management decisions, rattan inventories and research on inventory methods are important for sustainable management of the plant. This technical report is an outcome of the FRIM/ODA workshop. It provides a detailed introduction to rattan inventory, inventory practices and procedures in vogue, and inventory equipment and data management. The techniques described can be used as the basis for planning and implementing rattan inventory, with due consideration of aspects such as the data to be collected, precision required, and time and funds
