After intense work from the end of may to mid to late June, the procure ment, trans portation, anti mold and insect proof treat ment of bamboo materials, founda tion cons truction, the large scale production of the structural frame has been basically completed. In the process of bamboo structure proces sing and foundation landfilling, language communi cation problems have appeared obstacles, and many professional termin ology trans lations cannot be explained, this has caused many mis unders tandings and construction errors. we many technical points have been explained. many technical points have been explained. they final completion is contrary to the explanation. after working together for a period of time, they all understand what the Chinese language expression means in their work.
Workers’ daily work and rest time is an 8 hour system. They go to work on time every day. They wear neat clothes when they come to work in the morning, and everyone has a bag on their back. What’s in the bag is the work clothes for that every day. In the evening, after get off work is over, these workers usually take a shower. Some put skin care lotion on their bodies, then put on the clean clothes that came from work in the morning and go home, looking very decent. Although the black skin is dark but delicate, you can see their strong body from the physique of men, all of them have very developed muscles.
We have encountered many things in the construction of bamboo buildings. Due to the geographical environment factors, we have encountered many inconveniences. In addition to the bamboo has been solved, such as: water source, electric circuit (solar power supply, hot and cold water exchange in guest rooms), sanitary facilities, soil Landfill, sources of cement (including sand and stones), fuel for bamboo processing, thatch collection, tools, equipment. Chinese and Ugandans have different living habits. The reason why in eat food, daily life, and the living arrangements of management personnel, especially electricity, are collected by solar energy on site. We worry about our life when it rains or cloudy. Power supply, otherwise it will cause tension in electricity consumption. Occasionally, the power supply will be tensioned after pumping water several times, forcing us to turn off the lights and sleep early at night. Fortunately, Uganda has the sun every day. After a rain, the clouds will clear and the fog will clear. The weather of full rain and full overcast is rarely seen. The annual average temperature in Uganda is Celsius 22℃.
The bamboo building of the guest room is close to 9M high. Scaffolding is required for aerial work. Mobile scaffolding is best. Murchison is far away from the city (it takes two hours to drive to the city). I don’t know how to calculate the cost of renting mobile scaffolding. So we gave up this idea and built simple movable scaffolds with bamboo.
The erection of the bamboo structure frame is also a difficult problem. In China or urban areas, cranes can be used for hoisting. we can only rely on manual people at work here. Everyone is working hard to figure out how to stand each frame safely and smoothly. We used several methods to get. after every ones concerted cooperation and hard work, after the first frame is erected, the others are erected very smoothly in order.
On our project there is Nahurira Bright, from Ugandan. He is a person who can use his brains and has a relatively strong acceptance ability. He has comprehensive basic skills. He can cook, water and electricity, construction, car repair and mechanical equipment. He learns structural technology very fast and he has certain leadership skills. Since he needs to communicate with black workers during construction, he will take the lead in demonstrating each process.
