- There are 4 known bamboo species in the Central African Republic, and 11 rattan species. [Data provided by the World Checklist of Bamboo and Rattan] Abyssinica and Malayan bamboo are the two most well-known and used species, although more people use rattan than bamboo.
- The Central African Republic has rich forest resources, which nurse a large variety of wildlife, including a number of species reliant on bamboo and rattan for their survival.
