INBAR and the Zixi county government recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
17 December 2020 – INBAR and the government of Zixi, a county in Jiangxi province, China, signed an agreement to enhance cooperation. The signing ceremony took place at the third China (Zixi) Bamboo Industry Development Summit Forum.
Zixi is a mountainous and forested part of China, with almost 90% forest coverage. The county boasts more than 200,000 ha of bamboo forests and a stock of more than 80 million bamboos. In recent years, government support has boosted the county’s bamboo sector, which is now valued at RMB 1.1 billion (around USD 168 million).
The new agreement commits both parties to work together closely on organising events, expanding international and domestic markets for bamboo products, and promoting the bamboo sector.
The agreement was signed by Lu Wenming, Deputy Director General of INBAR, and Wu Shuqin, the county magistrate of Zixi county People’s Government.
