GLOBAL LANDSCAPES FORUM 2019

GLOBAL LANDSCAPES FORUM 2019

15.30-16.30, Tuesday 29 October 2019

INBAR attended GLF 2019, ‘Restoring Africa’s Landscapes’, and led a session on the opening day about bamboo’s potential for land restoration.

Bamboo grows across many countries in Africa, and can be a critical plant for restoring degraded soil on the continent. The INBAR-led session, on ‘Bamboo for Land Restoration in addressing Environmental degradation and Mined Lands’, focused on the potential use of bamboo for various land restoration initiatives in Ghana, and drew recommendations and best practices from case studies.

Speakers included Dr Theresa Peprah, from the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana, and Mr Isaac Acquah, from Ghana EPA/TerrAfrica, as well as Mr Michael Kwaku, National Programme Coordinator for INBAR’s West Africa Regional Office.
