Caribbean International Bamboo Symposium
In November, INBAR co-hosted the Caribbean International Bamboo Symposium: a major event which aimed to spread awareness about the potential of bamboo to contribute to green growth in the Caribbean region. At the conference, William J.C. Hutchinson, a Minister for Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, announced that “Bamboo is now officially recognised and will receive the status by the Government as a new industrial crop in Jamaica, and so receive all the rights, privileges and benefits accorded other cultivated crops in Jamaica.” For a full write-up of the event, click here.
