Consultative Forum of the Group of Latin America and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC)

The Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) will convene a meeting at INBAR Headquarters in Beijing, China on 16 March 2023. Officials from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) embassies based in China and INBAR will participate in the meeting. Awareness raising and information sharing are the main goals of the event.

INBAR will facilitate a visit to the Bamboo and Rattan Showroom, where guests will see firsthand the versatile nature of bamboo and rattan products. Prof. Jiang Zehui, Co-Chair of INBAR Board of Trustees, and H.E. Mr. Fernando Lugris, Ambassador of Uruguay and Dean of GRULAC in China, will give the opening remarks, followed by a dialogue between ambassadors as well as an introduction to China’s bamboo industry development and overview of INBAR’s activities in the LAC region. INBAR Director General Ali Mchumo will give the closing remarks.

Out of the 24 countries of GRULAC in China, 11 countries are INBAR Member States and 2 are INBAR Observers. The event will highlight the important role and immense potential of bamboo industry development in other countries and regions in LAC, enhancing partnership networks and project collaboration in the future.
