Theme: Bamboo for Poverty Reduction and Livelihood Development

Objective:

It is observed that majority of rural households in least developed nations use fuel wood and charcoal as the primary source of fuel. This provides income, and livelihoods to a large populace. Bamboo is suitable as a fuel wood, it is currently converted into a number of commodified energy products such as charcoal, briquettes, pellets, etc. Being a renewable resource with annual harvesting possibility, it has tremendous possibility to use it as fuel wood, and further convert it into energy products that can provide income and employment.
