Standards promote innovation and competition, contribute to bamboo product rationalisation and quality control. Internationally recognised standards provide solid basis for the identification of trade regulations at national and international levels, at the same time, help improve efficiency and reduce barriers. Established in 2015, the ISO technical committee on bamboo and rattan (ISO/TC 296) is responsible for developing international standards on bamboo and rattan and derived materials. This session will introduce ISO/TC 296 and its work as well bamboo standardisation and bamboo innovation practices in China.
