Webinar: Local bamboo development cases (China)

Theme: Bamboo Industry Development

Introduction:

As three leading bamboo development counties with abundant bamboo resources and a long history of bamboo use, Anji, Qingyuan and Yong’an have used their respective natural, social and economic conditions to evolve different models for local bamboo sectors.  The session will introduce these areas’ experiences in local bamboo sector planning and development.

Panelists:

Zhang Hongliang, Senior Engineer, Professor, Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning of Anji County, Zhejiang Province.  As an experienced expert in bamboo cultivation, processing and bamboo sectoral development policies, Zhang had been taking many positions, including Standing Council Member of the China Bamboo Society, Zhejiang Bamboo Society, and the Bamboo and Rattan Utilization Branch of the China Forestry Society.

Jiang Jingyan, China’s first PhD. in bamboo furniture designing and manufacturing, State Senior Furniture Designer, Deputy Director of Furniture Specialized Instruction Committee of National Light Industry Teaching Steering Committee of Ministry of Education, and the founder and principal director of Yong’an Bamboo Industry Research Institute.  As a main propeller and planner of Yong’an’s bamboo sectoral development, Jiang organized the compilation of eight important provincial and municipal plans such as « Yongan Bamboo Furniture Industry Cluster Development Plan ».  His Institute organized and hosted the 2014-2020 International Bamboo Fair and International Bamboo Design Competition.
