This study was carried out in Anji County in Zhejiang, China under the auspices of the China National Forestry Economic and
Development Research Centre and the Chinese Academy of Forestry. The research examined practical operations of new bamboo management and marketing systems, as well as bamboo’s contribution to the local community’s economic development. The study concludes by presenting suggestions on how sustainable development of bamboo forest and bamboo production can be achieved. We hope that the information contained herein would be of assistance to policy makers, development experts, social scientists and others in other countries in formulating appropriate development interventions.
