Mauricio Cardenas Laverde
Mauricio Cardenas Laverde (Italian) was born in Bogota Colombia. He graduated from Universidad de los Andes Architecture School, with a Masters from Syracuse University and has a Ph.D on sustainable design at Politecnico di Milano Architecture School. During his career he has worked in top level international offices such as Meiji Watanabe & Associates in Tokyo, Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris and as a leader of Arup Façade Engineering team in Milan.
In 2004 he started Studio Cardenas Conscious Design in Milan – a creative workshop leader in research and use of sustainable materials and development of innovative construction techniques. In 2011 Bootech dry-mounted bamboo construction system was awarded with the prize “Italia degli Innovatori” by the Agency for the Diffusion of the Technologies for Innovation of the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers. With ongoing projects in Italy, China and Colombia he also works as a professor in Politecnico di Milano and as a visiting professor at Tongji University in Shanghai.
