Verónica María Correa Giraldo is a Civil Engineer from the National University of Colombia, and has a Masters in Engineering (Structures) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Professor Correa Giraldo has complemented her training with different workshops and courses in the technical and academic field of her specialisation as a Structural Engineer, as well as in topics related to technological innovation, innovation management and climate change. She has been a guest professor for different chairs at universities in Mexico and has participated in several technical-academic events in different parts of the world. In addition, she is part of the National Council of Wood in Construction in Mexico. She has participated in the drafting committee of the Complementary Technical Standards for the most recent Construction Regulations of México City (2017), and is also part of the Colombian Seismic Engineering Association.
Professor Correa Giraldo is a founding partner of Kaltia® (www.kaltia.com.mx), a company with more than nine years’ experience in developing structural engineering projects with construction systems and conventional and non-conventional materials. She is also a founding member of Bambuterra® (www.bambuterra.com.mx), a bio-construction company specialising in the use of bamboo and other materials of natural origin and recycled materials. She is a co-creator of the prefabricated systems for construction Bambulosa®, Biopanel® and BiBa®. She is also co-author of software for the automation of structural engineering processes which consider environmental impacts; one of these specialises in engineering with round bamboos.
