Yann Olivier Barnet
Yann Barnet is a French architect with a French Diploma Master Degree. Since 2008, he has been a Project Manager at the Institute of Housing, Urban Planning and Construction of the University San Martín de Porres in Lima, Peru.
Aside from his academic activities, Barnet leads projects with social approaches and development of sustainable construction technologies. Within this framework he has participated in several international events about bamboo, has been a member of the Committee on the elaboration of the Peruvian standard for construction ‘E100 bamboo’, and has designed several projects with bamboo structures, particularly in the area affected by the 2007 Pisco Earthquake. In 2013 and 2014, its innovating design of social housing with bamboo were awarded in the National Competition organized by the Housing Ministry of Peru.
Barnet has also participated in the proposal ‘Bamboo: a sustainable, durable, and affordable way to build in the Peru’, awarded as ‘100 best Practices’ in the International Award ‘Best Practice 2014’ organised by the Municipality of Dubai and ONU-Habitat.
Barnet is one of the founders and administrators of the internet platform Centro del bambú del Perú” (Bamboo Center of Peru).
